iPhone Visual Voicemail setup

The following steps explain how to set up and initiate the wireless visual voicemail (VVM) service on an Apple iPhone.

Set Up VVM Password:

1. Tap Phone.
2. Tap Voicemail.
3. You will be prompted to create a voicemail password.
4. Tap Save.
5. Re-enter password and tap Save to confirm.

Set Up VVM Greeting:

1. Tap Phone.
2. Tap Voicemail.
3. Tap Greeting.
4. Tap Custom.
5. Tap Record to being recording.
6. Tap Stop when completed. Tap Play to listen to the greeting.
7. Tap Save.

New voicemail setup (regular voicemail)

Follow these steps to set up wireless voicemail for the first time:

1. To access your voicemail, hold down the number 1 on your keypad.
2. When prompted, enter the 4-digit password that was provided to you in a text message when you initially activated your device or added voicemail to your plan (the default is the last 4 digits of your phone number).
3. Follow the prompts to set up a new password and personalize your greeting (or you can use the default message)

Saving voicemails before a transfer/plan change

It is important to know that when you transfer to a new account, change your plan, or get new services, your previous voicemail inbox will be wiped and reset even if you are using the same device.

Voicemail files are not automatically backed up or saved on your iPhone. You may want to preserve an important voicemail as an audio file before you voicemail is wiped or reset.
